Drawing on the windows
Assessment Art-Initiation, evaluated by Ilse Van den Bogaert
During our Art-Initiation class, we created a large chalk drawing in groups of four in the hallway of our South Campus. We started by writing a poem based on a work of art we selected from a set of four paintings that Ilse had laid out for us. The poem was based on our group’s interpretation of that chosen painting. We first sketched it in neat lettering on paper, and later, we recreated it as a beautiful chalk drawing on the windows in the hallway. We were allowed to draw inspiration from things we found online, and Ilse had also provided several inspirational books with examples of calligraphy, doodles, and various types of creative title-writing.
This is a great example for a class that can be adapted to many different themes and can easily be spread across school buildings.
