Being yourself-workshop

Interactive guided tour and creative workshop at the Middelheimmuseum with 13-year-old Groenhout students

For our second internship period in the second year of my PKV teaching program, we had the opportunity to give a guided tour and workshop at the Middelheimmuseum. I was fortunate to work with the same enthusiastic group as for the Greek Gods workshop—the students from Groenhout High School. After months of preparation and conducting a test-pilot (see article Dancing in De Nor), the moment had arrived!

The students explored and analyzed various artworks in the Middelheim Park through a series of interactive tasks, they learned to articulate their observations and feelings. And during the creative workshop, they produced artistic works inspired by each part of the tour. The structure of both the tour and the workshop was based on the roles from the Part-Time Arts Education framework (researcher, artist, performer, craftsman, collaborator, and, of course… the unique self).

I created a summary document detailing the full setup and execution of both the guided tour and the workshop. You can find the document here.
