Assignment Art-Initiation, evaluated by Ilse Van den Bogaert

 

Following up on the previous Art Initiation lesson, Ilse Van den Bogaert assigned us to selectively outline our chosen artwork using carbon paper. I worked on Landscape with Girl Skipping Rope by Salvador Dali and this led to the result shown below.

We then made two copies of each outline and distributed them in class. The task was to create two imaginative interpretations of someone else’s abstract line drawing. Students could use pencil, markers, paint, or digital drawing tools. In the end, each of us had two unique fantasy drawings inspired by our classmates’ outlines.

As you can see, the interpretations vary widely, which makes this assignment particularly engaging. Below, you can find the processed line drawings created by the other students.
